In Reply To Toluene and Xylene are just aromatic hydrocarbons. Obviously posted by Z-Jay (Edmonton, AB) on June 09, 2004 at 04:40 PM

Message different folks (people with chemical engineering backgrounds, firemen, a buddy that works at Ultramar, etc.). Most said it just somehow made the carbon from the gas more adhesive to the exhaust internals. I assumed it was from the sooty afterburn from the Xylene itself. Sooty afterburnt Xylene combined with carbon buildup and ...well, there you go. But if you got any hard evidence on it I'd like to hear it.

I would really like to hear some good solid info on this. BTW- some good info. Got any idea of octane level?
